Life Questions: Is Life Worth Living?

Mark Liston’s pursuit of happiness got off to a rough start.  His father screamed at and beat him and his mother was schizophrenic and emotionally unavailable.  When he went to school, life was just as bad.  At 12, Mark was totally rejected by his peer group and suffered major depression.  When a high school senior, Mark’s father died of cancer, his mother’s insanity and dependence worsened, and they lived in poverty.  As a young adult, he struggled to overcome ADHD, relational problems, and character weaknesses.

This background could have crippled him.  Mark found he needed help to overcome his insecurity and fear.  Through other’s compassionate care, he experienced healing and developed strength of character.  That’s when happiness came.

Mark’s training is in education [BA], theology [MDiv], psychology and counseling [EdS], communication, and mediation.  He has worked as a youth director and pastor and has had a professional counseling practice for 22 years.  Mark has taught at three universities and is a popular conference speaker.
